In 1904, the company purchased over 250 acres 10 miles south of Trenton, for the expansion of the flourishing company -construction of the Kinkora Works, and thus the Village of Roebling, began. Charles G. Roebling, the son of company founder John A. Roebling, sought to create a self-contained village where people would work and live. His new community consisted of 750 brick homes, a general store, and a public school.
