This edition includes information on the Museo Clementino, founded by Pope Clement XIV in 1771 to originally house Renaissance and antique works, before later being enlarged by Pope Pius VI. According to numerous sources, plates 2-4 in this volume are also copies of Piranesi etchings, which are unsigned here and have been heavily reworked.
