Description:
Leipzig: F. E. Wachsmuth, 1930. No Binding. Very Good. A striking colour lithograph picturing plantation workers picking cotton by the banks of the Mississippi. Intended for educational use in schools, circa 1930. Measures 26 x 34.5 inches. With two hanging holes and some staining and grubbiness to the margins with a couple of ink marks to the picture. The image has retained its colour well, nonetheless, and this is a striking piece which will frame well.

Description:
Helsinki: Schildts, 1994. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fine/Fine. 1994, First thus, the revised, illustrated edition. When first published in 1968, Tove Jansson insisted that her first foray into adult's literature would not include illustrations of any kind - so intent was she in distancing herself from the Moomins. By 1994, however, she had mellowed somewhat, and she agreed to the inclusion of photographs from her personal family archive - as well as one of her own drawings - for this revised edition of her semi auto-biographical work, Sculptor's Daughter. The original Schildts Swedish language editions of Tove Jansson's works are always the most difficult to acquire due to their comparatively tiny print-runs. And this title is no exception. EXTREMELY hard to find and particularly in such superb condition as this copy. SIGNED copies of either edition are amongst the most elusive of all her works - they simply do not appear on the open market. You are more likely to find an original leaf from The Book… Read More

Paris: Maeght Editeur, 1975. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Soft cover. Fine. A very nice complete copy of DLM 212 with 8 lithographs (including the covers) by Alexander Calder. Published in Paris by Maeght, 1975. Loose signatures in wrappers as issued, 24 pages. Contents in Fine condition, free from spotting, foxing etc. No stains or finger-marking - a very clean and bright copy, the colours are vivid and goregeous. One minor fault - there is a very small pinch at the spine/fold which carries through to the same place at all of the signatures - unsure whether it is a sign of a "bump" or some kind of production fault. otherwise, a Fine example.

Description:
Tampere, Finland: Tampere Art Museum, 1986. 1st Edition . Soft cover. Near Fine. First Printing. An incredibly rare item of Moomins memorabilia. In 1986 Tove Jansson and her life-partner, the artist Tuulikki Pietilä, donated a huge collection of Moomins-related artwork to Tampere Art Museum, Finland. The collection comprised over 1000 drawings and paintings and 38 three-dimensional tableaux. The collection was first displayed in The Moomins exhibition at Tampere Art Museum along with other original sketches and book illustrations by Jansson. The tableaux were miniature Moomin-themed dioramas crafted by Jansson, Tuulikki Pietilä and their friend, Pentti Eistola. The donation also comprised other works of art by Jansson as well as archival Moomins-related material. An exhibition catalogue was, of course, published to mark the occasion and we are pleased to be able to offer for sale a particularly significant example. Printed in the Finnish language, the catalogue comprises 72 pages with text by Tove… Read More
