New York: Baker, Pratt & Co., 1880. Cloth. Fair. In the introduction, dated 1877, "Should any one accuse me of having imitated Bret Harte's style, I shall accept the accusation as a compliment..." Large, heavy book, dark blue cloth with embossed borders and designs to all sides, gilt design and title just good on spine, numerous light brown stains on many pages due to collection of dried flowers, now removed. Slight wear to tips, with very slight wear to spine edges, tiny stain and spots on back, brown edge of brown stain barely visible at top tip on p. 63, then increasing toward first front end papers to occupy the top front right area near tip. Fair copy.
