Light Wear, Gilt Brilliant, Front Hinge Reinforced With Tape Along Front Gutter Between The Endpapers. On The Rear Endpapers Are Attached Three Violet Clippings On Fine Paper, Possibly From The Dust Jacket For This Book, Discussing Le Gallienne And Max Beerbohm; Beerbohm Did The Frontispiece Drawing For This Book. Inscribed "Mrs. Kenyon Cox From Timothy And Leolyn Spelman Christmas 1926 Florence", And Again Inscribed "To Mark In Friendship And With Best Wishes In Every Way Fred W. Stewart". Louise Howland King Cox (June 23, 1865-1945) Was An American Painter Known For Her Portraits Of Children. She Won A Number Of Prizes Throughout Her Career, Notably A Bronze Medal At The Paris Exposition Of 1900 And A Silver Medal At The Pan-American Exposition In Buffalo. She Wed Her Former Teacher Kenyon Cox. Kenyon Cox (October 27, 1856 - March 17, 1919) Who Was An American Painter, Illustrator, Muralist, Writer, And Teacher. Cox Was An Influential And Important Early Instructor At The Art Students League Of New York. He Was The Designer Of The League's Logo. Timothy Mather Spelman (January 21, 1891 - August 21, 1970) Was An American Composer; Born In Brooklyn, New York, He Was For Many Years Resident In Italy, Dying At His Villa Just Outside Florence. He Composed A Fair Amount Of Chamber Music And Some Works For Orchestra, As Well As A Number Of Operas. He Also Wrote Many Songs, Mostly To Texts By His Wife, The Poet Leolyn Spelman. Spelman Bequeathed His Villa, And His Papers, To The Johns Hopkins University. Stewart May Have Been Fred Waldorf Stewart (1894 - 1991), A Distinguished American Surgical Pathologist.
