Very Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. appendix, at the beginning of the book tipped in between the verso of the title page and " Advertisement " has been a page with a list of books " uniform with the volume ". Black-and-white Illustrated frontispiece, showing a man lying under the tree snoozing. 1/4 maroon coloured spine with gilt decorations and titles with 3/4 pale green coloured boards with gilt decorations running either side of the spine gutter and at each corner. Pink and blue marbled paper edges - please see photograph. A sequel to the authors' " Lavengro " about Catholic [ popish ] agitation in England in the middle of the 19th century. The appendix at the rear of the book is a discussion about " Lavengro ". Softening and rubbing to the backstrip edges and to the book corners. Wear and grubby marks to the book panels and the spine is slightly cocked. Foxing and offset tanning to the endpapers and a few foxing spots to the beginning and to the end of the text. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 364 pages last blank, 16 pages following text of advertisements, advertisement -- for book, the all.
