Two volumes bound as one in late C19th red leather over marbled boards; raised bands and gilt lettering on spine, marbled endpapers. Leatherwork a little scuffed, boards grazed, otherwise good. Rose D'Albret: Sadleir [3755a]. "A Radcliffian romance of intrigue". (Historical Fiction). Historical novel, set in France in the 1590s. The Hidden Path: Topp [I, p. 62]. American ante-bellum novel, once dismissed as merely "plantation fiction". Probably the first English edition (although Sampson Low also published an edition in the same year)..
