London: Smith, Elder, and Co, 1855. Hardcover. Good. 12mo. [2], iv, 128 pages. Frontispiece illustration and illustrated title page. Illustrations and plates. Half leather binding. Greenish marbled paper covered boards. Leather corners and spine. 4 raised bands and gilt stamped title label on the spine. Shelf wear to the marbled paper covering and light rubs to the leather sections. Name of "Anna Loring" written on the right front flyleaf. Anna Loring was the daughter of Ellis Gray Loring a New England Abolitionist and one of the founders of the New England Anti-Slavery Society. Note: Thackeray wrote under the Pseud. of "W. A. Titmarsh.

Synopsis

The Rose and the Ring is one of those special literary treats which happen when a writer for adults turns his attention to the world of children. It's a classic fairy tale, told with Thackeray's customary insight into characters, an excellent story for reading aloud to children.
