African American author's second novel, set, like the first, in a small Georgia town in the fictional Muskhogean County, and spanning most of the first half of the twentieth century. Illustrated with drawings by Benny Andrews, who also did the dust jacket art. INSCRIBED by Ray Andrews and dated in 1980 on the front endpaper. Review copy with publisher's material laid in, including two original photographs, and notations showing that the issue price was changed from 8.95 to 9.95 and the date from Oct to June. 245 pp. .
