About This Item
(Dublin): The Dolmen Press, 1974. Second edition. Covers marked and worn at spine. 8vo, 87pp; wrappers. Excellent presentation copy inscribed by the Irish poet on the title page to English poet Christopher Middleton: "The imploring, extravagant figure of the poet, history's witness, tribal tribulations, a plea for love -- from John (not always sober) to Christopher the Hard-Headed mourner of the Green Man. If our countries can't agree, we can. John" Above this, Montague has crossed out his printed name and replaced it with a signature. Several typos in the text corrected by Montague in ink, including the spelling of Seamus Heaney's name in the acknowledgements.
