The Royal Shakspere in 12 volumes, London: International Bibliophile Society, undated (early 1900s).Quartos, Copy No. 63 of an edition of 1,000, green cloth boards with gilt lettering and decoration on spines, gilt-outlined inscription on front, illustrated with photogravures, drawings and paintings, top edges gilt, other edges untrimmed. The Bard's work presented in chronological order. Photos here of some of the great actors and actresses of the 19th century, including a Nadar photo of Sarah Bernhardt, Robson and Crane by Sarony (deftly hand-colored), Edwin Booth also by Sarony, Lily Langtry and others. Many of the photos are hand-colored -- some not so carefully, others very well.Condition of these books:Good to very good with a few loose plates, one lacking; covers lightly worn with occasional minor staining and discoloration; gilt at top edges has dulled. Images fine and sharp. First edition of the work in this format and binding, and/or set or series. Size: Quarto. 12-volume set (complete). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing.
