About This Item

London: Weidenfeld and Nicolson, 1977. Bound in the publishers pink cloth binding, this is the first impression of the first edition of George Melly's colourful recollections which include his experiences of life as a conscripted seaman. Signed and inscribed by George Melly to the front free endpaper. Book is in near fine condition. Housed in the very good priceclipped dustwrapper which bears a line drawing of George Melly to the front panel by David Hockney. Dustwrapper has some overall wear and signs of handling, mainly to edges, otherwise a presentable example. A dustwrapper that is difficult to find in above very good condition due to the quality of paper used in production. Protected in a removable archival booksleeve to preserve its condition. Photographs of the book and the dustwrapper are available on request. Overall a rather nice copy of a rare signed volume by the multi talented George Melly.. Signed by Author. First Edition. Near Fine/Very Good.
