Kane introduces the reader to each of the explorers on the expedition, from Poland, Britain, Costa Rica, South Africa and the United States and the difficulties and challenges of such treacherous, but exotically beautiful, landscape. Very clean and unmarked, tight & solid, square with sharp corners, in black half-cloth with red titles, gray boards, no wear to extremities. Rough cut. Internals also very clean, completely free of any markings. Unclipped, clean and bright jacket with light ruffling along upper edge and a touch of wear to upper front corner. 278 pages. 9.5 x 6.5 inches. Alfred A Knopf, Inc., New York, 1989.
