Annual publication (this book contains three years of issues) geared to the Victorian 'gentleman farmer', with a lot of practical advice for any farming enterprise, but with emphasis on aesthetics, expensive machinery, and growing attractive gardens - a bit of a fantasy book for city-dwellers dreaming of a romantic country home. Includes lots of engravings of machinery and crops, garden plans, farm animals, barns, and greenhouses. Brown cloth lettered and decorated in gilt, 332 pages. Fair condition, covers rubbed with heavy wear to corners and spine ends, old hinge repairs with clear flexible tape, text block sound but not tight, pencil diagrams on rear free endpapers, pages clean with occasional light finger soil, no names or other markings.. Hard Cover. Fair. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
