[Special Publication No. 1, Pacific Coast Branch of the American Historical Association] [6.75x10.25"]; [6], 111 pp. [1]; Red cloth binding with gilt lettering on spine; Light brown dust jacket with black lettering on front, back and spine; Minor shelf wear to corners and top and bottom edges and spine; Bookplate of prior owner on front pastedown endpaper with ink stamp below, same ink stamp on rear pastedown and front free endpaper verso; Dust jacket is age toned, soiling to spine and shelf wear with small chips on top and bottom of spine and top edge, closed tears along front and back hinges. This book was part of the centennial celebration of the California Gold Rush. Twelve writers and researchers were asked to contribute essays on the period and include Irene Paden, Walker Wyman, Robert Cleland, Glenn Dumke, John Kemble, Oscar Lewis, Carl Wheat, Raymond Rydell, Rockwell Hunt, John Baur and Edwin Carpenter. A scholarly work with notes and bibliographies.
