There is a poem entitled "Address to Music" as a frontispiece, probably an Clapham Psalm 17 by Calcott; Gratitude by Fawcett; St. Anne Psalm 139 by E. Cruse; Canterbury by Herring; St. Michael Psalm 113 by Haydn; Hanover Psalm 149 by Handel; Woodward Kings' College Commemoration Chant; Liverpool by Thomas Attwood. The 400 or so pieces of music include: Clapham Psalm 17 by Calcott; Gratitude by Fawcett; St. Anne Psalm 139 by E. Cruse; Canterbury by Herring; St. Michael Psalm 113 by Haydn; Hanover Psalm 149 by Handel; Woodward Kings' College Commemoration Chant; Liverpool by Thomas Attwood and a few pieces that are labelled "unknown". John Rooke was Art Master at St. Bees School, North Shields. He was an artist, land surveyor and music precentor, organist and portrait painter. Some of his painting were sold at Christies in 1975.
