Publisher's red cloth lettered in black to spine, illustrated dust-jacket with printed price of 2/- to front flap. Stickman illustrations to title page and preliminaries. Toning to edges of textblock and pages, bumping to spine and corners, sunning to spine, 5cm tear to crown of jacket spine, 3.5cm tear to front flap and crease, chipping and wearing to edges, sunning to spine. Very good. 'The Saint in New York' tells the story of the much loved character Simon Templar, a Robin Hood-like figure known as the Saint. When William K. Valcross hires the Saint, to bring justice to the men who kidnapped and killed his son, he approaches this challenge with his usual light-hearted confidence, but it soon becomes clear that he is out of his depth. This is the 247th edition of a book in the 'Saint' Saga, and is the 14th edition of 'The Saint in New York' which was first published in 1935.
Synopsis
The Saint in New York is the title of a mystery novel by Leslie Charteris that was first published in the United Kingdom by Hodder and Stoughton in 1935. It was published the same year in the United States by Doubleday. An abbreviated version of the novel was previously published in a 1934 issue of The American Magazine. This was the 15th book chronicling the adventures of Simon Templar, alias The Saint, an anti-hero character patterned somewhat after Robin Hood. According to the website saint.
