About This Item

New York, NY: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1909. Hardcover. Near Fine. Great copy, stiff blue covers with straight corners with hints of edge wear, slight edge wear on head and tail of spine, gilt design and lettering bold and unfaded, inside is whistle-clean and evenly toned, hinges are strong, unmarked, page edges are fine condition and top edges are gilt. Forty-four illustrations by Will Owen are set throughout the book and offer a wonderful atmosphere to this 1909 novel set in an English seaport town. The uncut edges of the fore-edge are a perfect complement to this more than a hundred year old book.
