About This Item

London: Collins, 1962. The same two characters that appeared in 'Starbuck Valley' once again are here by the same author. This book is of a summer's fishing in the 'Mallard'. Don and Tubby have to make enough money for the boat, so they go north.... up the coast of British Columbia. Many difficulties and a dramatic rescue during a storm at sea are to be experienced. Once again Roderick Haig-Brown (a man of many gifts.... a fisherman, a hunter, and naturalist) shows his sensitive understanding of the mind of a boy approaching man-hood. His book gives us robust characterisation, dry humour and the authentic taste of the sea. A list of illustrations provided. These illustrations and the illustrated dust jacket are by John Worsley. An ex-library copy. This early reprint remains firm and complete.. Reprint. Hard Cover. Good/Good Plus.
