Salvador, Bahia: Odebrecht, 1979. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. Brown cloth with gilt titles to front cover and spine. Large book, 10 by 11 inches oblong. Only a partial jacket, the front panel and part of the spine, which has been placed at the back of the book inside the rear cover. This book reproduces the documental paintings of Salvador, Bahia in 19th-century Brazil by Diogenes Reboucas and was planned and designed for the Norberto Odebrecht Construction Corporation in a limited, private edition, not available to the market. Text in both English and Portuguese. English translation by Barbara Valladares. Preface by Thales de Azevedo, Introduction by Pedro Calmon. 125 pages with Index of Paintings. Heavy, glossy stock. Many full-page color illustrations in addition to several fold-out illustrations. A large, folded topographic map of Salvador, which appears to have been reproduced from a much older original, is laid in inside the front cover..
