About This Item
San Francisco: Printed by Charles F. Robbins & Company, 1863. First edition. 9x6," [5], 359, [2]pp. Charts, tables, frontis diagram of the chamber of the board of supervisors. Half calf, brown cloth boards, spine lettered in gilt. Ex University of California copy bearing withdrawal and perforated stamps, bookplate to front pastedown, and stickers to spine. Joints heavily rubbed but holding, some bubbling to upper board. Tape repairs to inner margins of endpapers else clean internally. A good, complete copy.
A very early set of reports from all agencies and departments in the city of San Francisco for the year 1862-63. The city was still in a state of rapid growth in the years following the Gold Rush, with developments in the banking and railway industries leading to the Bay Area becoming a center for trade and business.
The earliest municipal reports we find mention of in OCLC are for the year 1859-60, and holdings are scant for these early volumes.
