Seattle: University of Washington Press, 1933 Vol. 5 of the University of Washington Publications in Anthropology. Product of field work conducted on 1928 and then again in 1930, describes the Sanpoil and Nespelem, who like other Indians of the north central Plateau, never became parties to any treaty with the U.S. They were virtually ignored by the government and were accorded little attention by others. In 1872, they were concentrated into a reservation. From the collection of Wayne Prescott Suttles, renowned anthropologist, scholar, and linguist regarding many Pacific cultures, and especially the U.S. Pacific Northwest Coast Salish people. His name inked to the front and to the title page. Provenance provided upon request. Condition notes: 237 numbered pp; TPB. Pages: clean, ivory, tight; a.e. tanned, top corners bumped. Cover: gray wraps, black titles front, plain spine; modest edge/shelfwear, extrems worn, spine starting at edges, a.e. and spine well sunned, spine creases. Scarce.
