London: Greening & Co. Ltd, 20 Cecil Court, Charing Cross Road, W.C., 1904. First Edition. Octavo, original purple cloth lettered in gilt on spine, lettered and ruled in gilt on front panel. 322 pp, pp (1-2) are ads. Light tanning to text block, some fading to cloth covers, mottled discolouration to spine and part of rear panel, 3 cm long closed pull tear at top edge of front spine hinge. A good, tight copy of a rare book.

¶ The author's first published book, a macabre supernatural tale in which the narrator is sent to hell following his suicide and from there back to earth to corrupt the souls of the living.
