London: Printed for A. Millar, 1751. 8vo, pp. [ii], xxiv, 154, [2]. Contemporary speckled calf, boards bordered with a double gilt rule, spine divided by raised bands between double gilt rules, edges sprinkled red. A little rubbed, particularly to spine, front joint split but cords holding, label lost. Armorial bookplate of Henry Howard, Earl of Effingham to pastedown, modern booklabel to flyleaf date-stamped 1987, a few manuscript corrections in an early hand. The second edition and first in a single volume of Thomas Brewster’s translation of Persius which was issued in 6 separate parts in 1741; Brewster had published a translation of the second satire alone in 1733.
