Paris: Hachette. GOOD+ book. 5th ed. All three gilt edges bright & shiny as new.. 1870. 5th edition.. Hardcover. GOOD+ book. Full red pebbled & embossed morocco. AEG. 5 raised ribs. Gilt author/title in 2nd panel.Moire pastedowns/eps . IN FRENCH. Silk page marker. Other spine panels with concentric gilt square. FINE contents but for moderately foxed first & last few leaves, otherwise lightly foxed. No other internal flaws. About 20 full page plates, the first of which, on p 120, a world map with grape growing areas in color. This the only color in the book. Last chapter on medicinal plants has a figure of a scored poppy bud oozing what will become opium. Cover edges & extrems lightly worn. A 1" chip at spine top, 1/2"at spine heel. .
