San Francisco: Andrew Hoyem, 1976. First Edition. One of 150 copies not for sale. Broadside, 12-1/16" x 8-7/8". Right and bottom edges untrimmed. Poem of five stanzas, printed in black and aqua on cream stock with four woodcut vignettes by Valenti Angelo. Faint and trivial wrinkling at lower right margin, else Fine. Sleeved with this copy (as added by a previous collector) is a loose bookplate with an original Updike signature in blue ink.
A keepsake printed for the Roxburghe Club's 1976 annual meeting, commissioned by Gale Herrick, Stan Speck, John Borden and Jack Aldridge for presentation to fellow members. The poem originally appeared in Updike's 1958 collection The Carpentered Hen. UPDIKE BIBLIOGRAPHY A57a.
