A compilation of letters written and edited by the author, detailing his journeys across northern Australia, New Guinea, Indonesia, China, and Japan. Includes accounts of the Torres Straits islanders and the Solomon Islands and New Britain under German rule, as well as Java and Sumatra. Octavo: xiii, 347 p. with 8 color plates and 45 illustrations. Original green cloth binding, with gilt and black stamping. Largely uncut. Tiny stain to the bottom edge of the rear board. The spine is s bit sun faded; otherwise very good.
