About This Item

New York: G. Schirmer, 1894 Later edition. With a short biography of the composer by Philip Hale. Finely bound in three-quarter red morocco and light red marbled paper-covered boards, five raised bands to spine, compartments decorated in gilt, top edge gilt, light red marbled endpapers. A very good or better copy, lightly toned to spine and rubbed to extremities, scattered foxing to text block edges, occasional pencil notes to various pages, three-inch closed tear to p. 143. This volume contains the musical notation for Mozart's nineteen sonatas for solo piano, composed between 1774 and 1789. A musical prodigy throughout his childhood, Mozart began writing music around age five and travelled internationally with his family, performing in cities around the world. He is regarded as one of the most prolific composers of the classical period, and his work spanned across various forms, including sonatas, symphonies, concertos, and operas. Indeed, Mozart is credited with expanding upon the precise Baroque counterpoint that came before him to create music with more complex dynamics and emotion.. Hard Cover. Very Good.
