The front board is leather mounted to cloth. Brilliantly decorated with the Swiss coat-of-arms in gold gilt; elaborately framed in red, black, and gilt. The binding was designed and executed by C. Hasert of Stuttgart. The original protective wraps are present. This "Summer Trip through Mountain and Valley" in Switzerland was one of the very best works on the topic issued in German in the 19th century. It includes descriptions of: Luzern; Thun; Aarau; Basel; Berne; Zurich; Chur; Gallen; Fribourg; Geneva. as well as the peoples, natural history, and landscapes of places like: Sarnen; Sion; Samaden; Montreux; Vevey; Lugano; Locarno; St. Moritz; Davos; Thusis; Ilanz; Pontresina; Schuls; Appenzell; Rorschach; Amsteg; Engelberg; Disentis; Vrin; San Bernardino; etc. A splendid book.
