About This Item
Stated copyright date is 1950, but probably a later printing. Tight, square spine. Clean, unmarked interior. Some rubbing, gentle edge-wear, and a few very light creases to the covers. An early cover design by the legendary Milton Glaser on this mass-market paperback edition of a heretical diatribe against expert opinions by chemist and noted insect-hater Standen. Once praised by Einstein (the book actually shows a soft spot for physicists), Standen uses hyperbole and cutting humor to puncture the materialist enterprise's 'fabulous collective ego, as inflated as a skillfully blown piece of bubble gum.' 221 pp.
