About This Item
Scipion L'Africain, Captaine B. H. Liddell Hart, preface et traduction du Capitaine A. Lageix, avec sept croquis. [Scipio Africanus, by Captain B. H. Liddell Hart, preface and translation by Captain A. Lageix, with seven sketches.]
Hardback, 1934, first French edition, published by Payot, Paris, 239 pages.
Octavo/8vo, measures around 8 3/4" by 5 3/4" by 1". Deep red Moroccan half-leather binding and red cloth binding, gilt lettering to spine and raised bands. Cracking along most of length of front outer hinge, with upper area having come unglued, although still attached at lower end and at rear hinge. Much rubbing to hinges generally, scuffing and chipping to leather and substantial chip missing from top of spine. Otherwise, some marking and scuffing to binding, signs of shelf-wear, rubbing at edges, a little bumping and tearing to corners. A little slackness to binding and some strain to textblock but book contents reasonably firm. Page edges browned, scuffed, tanned and a bit marked. Patterned endpapers with gilt detail. The odd mark to page surfaces and a few annotations in margins, with some notations to a couple of the hindmost pages. See pictures for further information.
