Hardcover. 12mo. 19cm, first U.S. edition, 346,24p., publisher's catalogue, index, in the original full sheep, gilt title on block leather label, some wear on the edges, some occasional slight foxing, upper hinge starting but sound, very good to fine copy (sc). ~ Travels through the Scottish Highlands "old traditions, second sight, bagpipes, witchcraft, clans, tartan, whiskey, heather, muir fowl, red deer, and Jacobites!". Scottish author and social activist, Catherine Sinclair (1800 1864) is particularly noted for the discovery of Sir Walter Scott's authorship of "The Waverley Novels" originally published anonymously.
