About This Item
London: Bloomsbury Books. Very Good/Very Good. 1988. First Edition. Hard Cover. 4to 1870630068 Dust jacket complete, unclipped. Green cloth with bright gilt titling on spine. No ownership inscription. Numerous photographs. 199 pages clean and tight. Scottish Steam routes is a magnificent photographic album of the various preserved steam workings that have travelled the scenic lines of Scotland since the early 1970's. Coupled with these are some splendid shots of diesels, including Deltics and Class 40's, at work and also a few nostalgic older pictures from the days when steam still ran under B.R. Divided into 7 geographical areas this volume extends the largely successful style of Roger Siviter's "The Settle to Carlisle; A Tribute" and "The Welsh Marches". The seven sections are: Carlisle to Glasgow (GSWR); Glasgow, Stirling, Perth, Dundee to Aberdeen; Glasgow to Edinburgh (including the suburban circle); Edinburgh, via the Forth Bridge to Perth and via the Tay Bridge to Dundee; Perth to Inverness (the Highland Main Line); Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh; Fort William to Mallaig. .
