Bindings are dark green leather spines and fore corners with marbled paper sides and marbled endpapers. Gilt rules on upper and lower boards, spines have five raised bands, gilt titles and ornamentation in six compartments. Top edges gilt. Spines mildly faded, a few minor rubs to bottom edges of boards, else fine. A very clean and handsome set.. Black and white illustrations, plans, maps. A thorough analysis of the use of navies in the War of 1812, by the most important American naval strategist of the 19th century. This is the concluding work in Mahan's highly influential series on naval strategy that began with the 1890 publication of "The Influence of Sea Power Upon History, 1660-1783."<br /> <br /> Both volumes illustrated with numerous plates, battle plans, and maps--some fold-outs.
