About This Item
London: Macmillan, 1895. First edition, first printing. Published by Macmillan in London, 1895. This is a very near fine copy. The top and tail of the spine is slightly bumped, and at the corners. The spine is not faded and remains bright. The gilt to the front panel and spine is pristine, perhaps the greatest example we have seen. The gilt text blocks are clean throughout. There is very slight foxing internally. The front and rear hinges are tight and not cracked or blemished. This copy is free from previous owners ink and is, overall, in very near fine condition. An exemplary copy.
Synopsis
The Second Jungle Book is a sequel to The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. First published in 1895, it features five stories about Mowgli and three unrelated stories, all but one set in India, most of which Kipling wrote while living in Vermont. All of the stories were previously published in magazines in 1894-5, often under different titles.
