(22), 478 pp. Printed label on front pastedown: "Se Vend, A. S. de la Mare, Impr. / & Marchand Libraire devant / l'Eglise Cathedrale. / 1696." Engraved frontispiece. The court and courtiers of Elizabeth I. OCLC locates three copies of this edition in the United States (Princeton, Bowdoin, Mississippi State). Later (17th century?) mottled calf (rubbed), gilt title and ornament between raised bands on spine, edges sprinkled red. Very good.
