The important and controversial book in which Dr. Wertham claimed to have found a link between criminal behavior and the reading of comic books, though his findings were based largely on undocumented anecdotes. However, Wertham's message found an eager and uncritical audience among crusaders for public morals, leading to Wertham being called to testify before the Senate Subcommittee on Juvenile Delinquency. The moral panic set off by Wertham's book and testimony led to the voluntary establishment of Comics Code Authority by the comics industry as an alternative to government regulation.

This copy's 2 page bibliographical note at leaf 399/400 is intact.
