Seale describes the book in the foreword: "There have been a lot of misconceptions about the Black Panther Party. I wanted to write this book so people would have a better insight into the inner workings of the Party - what it really does, the kind of people who are in it, their everyday lives, and the things that have happened to the Party, so that people would have a proper understanding of the Black Panther Party." Contents cover the Chicago conspiracy case, New Haven Panther trial, issues with law enforcement, and his relationship with Huey P. Newton, with a new 3pp introduction by the author. [64006].
