[The Tulasne brothers major contribution to mycology was the establishment of pleomorphism among fungi by a wealth of accurate and detailed observation, of which this work is the culmination. Originally published in Latin, 1861 - 1863, this English translation's title continues "exhibiting especially those facts and illustrations which go to prove that various kinds of fruits and seeds are produced, either simultaneously or in succession, by the same fungus". The original etched plates are reproduced here in collotype. "They depicted for the first time the conidia, perithecia, and asci of many important parasitic ascomycetes" (Reed.
