About This Item

Santa Rosa ::: Black Sparrow Press,,, 1991... First Printing of the First US Edition. A Fine tight unread copy in a Fine acetate dust jacket. This is 1/176 copies signed by the editor Seamus Cooney. This selection of Fante's letters trace his emergence from poverty to life as a Hollywood screenwriter, and the book is complemented by many photos and interesting appendices. The book is most distinguished by Fante's letters to his mother and also sheds light on his novel Ask the Dust, unequivocally his masterpiece, and will likely answer a lot of readers' questions about what was purely fiction and what was taken whole cloth from life.
