Franz Kafka (1883-1924) is famous for his surreal storytelling style, but he didn't achieve fame until after his death at age 40. This Modern Library reprint collection of 15 of his stories includes 'The Metamorphosis'. Translated from the German by Willa and Edwin Muir, and with an introduction by Philip Rahv. --- In Toledano spine 14 in blue cloth-look paper-covered boards / titling & decorations stamped in silver on spine / ml logo blindstamped to front cover / blank endpapers. Volume bears 1952 date but likely published c.1969-70. Jacket style o, verso is blank. ML #283.1. --- Interior leaves severely tanned due to use of acidic papers, remainder rubberstamping to textblock lower edge and with creases to corners of some leaves, otherwise a tightly-bound, clean and unmarked copy. Price-clipped dust jacket with foxing and little soiling but remaining intact; protected in removable mylar wrapper.; 12mo (7 to 7-1/2 in. tall); xxii, 328 pages .
