New York: Random House, 1976. First Edition. Hardcover. Oblong format, 9 1/2” x 6 1/4”. Pencil ownership signature. Fine copy in a near fine dust jacket with just a hint of dust soiling and edge wear. A collection of self-portrait drawings by writers and other literary folk from the collection of Burt Britton, created during his days as a bookseller at New York’s famous Strand Book Store. Some of the more than 600 self-portraits include Tennessee Williams, Lillian Hellman, Kurt Vonnegut, Michael McClure, John Gardner, Robert Penn Warren, Allen Ginsberg, Susan Sontag, Truman Capote, Borges, John Fowles, John Cage, Woody Allen,William Styron, Philip Roth, Joseph Heller, etc.
