Unfinished novel of Henry James, one of two published posthumously together with the preliminary notes for the work included here.With a preface by Percy Lubbock. Dark blue cloth with author and title in gilt on the front and spine, frontispiece portrait of James from a photograph by Alvin Langdon Coburn with tissue guard, 351 pages, fore and bottom edges untrimmed, owners name and date in ink on the front free endpaper, also some notes in French on the final blank page. Corners bumped inwards, some wear to one corner and cloth at the top of the spine. Internally clean and in good order, gilt bright and clear, a good copy.. First Edition.
