New York: Random House, 1940. First Edition. First printing Very good+ in red cloth covered boards with paper labels on the spine and on the front board with map end sheets. The spine is slightly creased down its middle and the front hinge is slightly shaken. Faintly stamped on the top edge of the text block is the notation "Blue Bird Book Nook" and there is a prior owner's book plate on the verso of the first free end page. In a very good- unclipped dust jacket with 1/4" deep chipping across the upper edge of the spine area and with moderate wear to the lower edge of the spine area and nicks to the fore corners. Based on the letters of Sergeant Roger Lamb of the Royal Welch Fusiliers, Graves created a magnificent historical novel of the American Revolutionary War. 380 pages of text.
