About This Item
The Detective Book Club produced volumes of three crime novels from 1942 to 1999. Originally monthly, near the end they dwindled down to just a few per year. Many famous detective and crime novelists had their early works featured in DBC editions. Often, books were published in DBC editions before, or at the same time as they were published in mass market form. A little about our authors:
Margaret Yorke: Yorke wrote 43 mystery novels, published between 1957 and 2001. These included the five novel Patrick Grant series. Yorke died in 2012.
Bill Crider: As well as collaborating with Willard Scott, Crider wrote many novels on his own. Author of over 65 novels, four novellas and a bundle of short stories, Crider is perhaps best known for his 25 volume Dan Rhodes series. Even your child may know of Crider from his contribution to the Wishbone series. Crider died in 2018. This is the eighth of 25 in the Dan Rhodes series.
David Berlinski: Berlinski holds a PhD in Philosophy and is best know not as a writer of fiction, although his detractors might argue otherwise. Berlinski has published works on the history of mathematics, differential topology, analytic philosophy, systems analysis, and the philosophy of mathematics. He is also part of a group that opposes the idea of evolution, but without offering any alternative (the rest of the group leans strongly towards intelligent design). Somewhere along the way, Berlinski took time out from intellectual pursuits to write three detective novels featuring the character Aaron Asherfield, of which The Body Shop is the third.
