[New York]: Classics of Liberty, [1998]. 8vo. [10], 188, [4] pp. Quarter-blk calf over blk cloth, gilt decrtd cvrs & spine, lettrng, raised bands, marbled endpapers, a.e.g., F. First Classics of Liberty edition of this work intended to address the abuses of laissez-faire capitalism, and the opening salvo in the political movement known as distributism. To Belloc, socialism was a totally erroneous response to the inequities of the industrial state. This essay and other Belloc theories were championed by his friend, the writer G.K. Chesterton.
