About This Item
London: Printed for John Wilson, 1827. First and only edition of "The first distinct effort towards a distinct Shakespeare bibliography" (Jaggard, p. 692), by a leading London book-dealer. 42-page introduction (which focuses on fake Shakespeare manuscripts and portraits) followed by a 70-page bibliography, describing 204 works about Shakespeare, the first editions of all of his works, and many editions of his complete works. Large margins, beautifully printed on fine wove paper watermarked "John Hall 1827". Very rare. 8vo, contemporary three-quarters morocco over marbled boards. Binding worn at joints and extremities, but structurally sound. Internally fine, bright, and uncut.
