In English and Chinese. 1994 Chinese Culture Foundation of San Francisco (San Francisco, California), 8 1/2 x 11 3/4 inches tall red buckram cloth hardcover in publisher's unclipped dust jacket, gilt lettering to front cover and spine, red endpapers, copiously illustrated with color photographs, bibliography, 110 pp. Very slight edgewear to covers, especially lower edge of boards. On the half title page, 1996 presentation inscription from noted Shiwan ceramics collector Albert Cheng. Otherwise, a very good to near fine copy - clean, bright and unmarked - in a slightly creased dust jacket which is nicely preserved and displayed in a clear archival Brodart sleeve. ~N~ [3.0P] Among the ceramic sculptures of China, none can surpass the Schiwan figures in terms of modeling, vivid expression, and colorful glazes. This presentation of the Shiwan ceramics features 100 figurines and vessels from American collections dating from the Song dynasty to the present. An appendix includes signatures and seals from the pieces.
