About This Item

New York: Bantam Books, 1957. First edition. Softcover. vg-. Small octavo. 184pp. [2]. Illustrated wrappers with white lettering on the front cover. Signed and inscribed by Richard Matheson on the title page. This is the first edition of this collection which brings together 13 of Matheson's early sci-fi short stories, all of which had originally appeared in a variety of science fiction magazines between 1951-1956 (two are rewritten versions of previous stories). The collection was only ever issued in softcover form, and many of these stories did not get included in a hardcover edition of any kind until "Richard Matheson: Collected Stories" (Dream Press, 1989).

Wrappers with some light rubbing and creasing to extremities, and along the spine. Interior front cover with previous owner's sticker. Starting at the gutter of the interior front cover, but book block fairly tight overall. Wrappers and interior in very good- condition overall.
