About This Item

British Library, London, 1988 reprint of 1986 first edition. Cloth, 8vo,. [vii], 152 pp. From the preface: "The short-title catalogue of Italian books printed between 1465 and 1600 in the possession of the British Museum Library was published by the Trustees in 1958. The present supplement begins with a list of corrigenda to errors found in that catalogue. This is followed by the titles of over 1,200 books which have either been added to the Library since 1958, or been found to have been omitted by oversight from the previous work. There are now for the first time a comprehensive index of towns of Italy and a separate index of towns outside Italy where books in Italian were printed up to 1600. These indexes cover the holdings of the British Library only, and do not therefore necessarily record all printers and publishers at work in those towns, or their first and last known dates of activity. The index of printers and publishers covers the supplementary material only. There is also a short list of those books destroyed in the War of 1939-45 which have been replaced since 1958. Finally there is a short index of false and fictitious places of imprint. Very Good.
